History

Since 1967, the KRD Group has never stood still. The company’s track record is written at two locations on a total of 25,000 square metres and our products are shipped all over the world. The company is managed by the 2nd generation of the Brammer family.

The success story begins in a small garage in Hamburg as "Gerd Brammer and Rolf Peters - Vehicle electronics/ship electrical engineering".

A repair service for Borgward models is offered. Among other things, the police have the vehicles with Moto meters of travel writers equip here.

1967
The workshop area is expanded to include the neighboring building. The Krd Handel & Service GmbH & Co. KG is founded. Krd = "Kraftfahrzeug Reparatur Dienst" (motor vehicle repair service).

Demolized police cars often roll onto the yard. The idea of the safety discs is born. Krd developed structures for small delivery vans.

1976
Contract with Fiat, transporters are sold and repaired.

KRD develops conversions for compact vans.

1982
Founding of KRD Sicherheitstechnik GmbH 800 square meter area for the production and further development of plastic safety glazing.

Supplementary armored windscreen: Gerd Brammer develops impact resistant windows. contract with Renault. 1990s: First own coating system.

Moving within Hamburg. contract with Renault. 1990s: First own coating system.

1988
Inauguration of the new company location in Geesthacht. The building was purpose built specifically to the company needs.

The need for safety windows, etc. for police cars, is growing steadily. 1998 : First extension with 1,000 sqm, followed by 2003 another 2,000 sqm.

1998
Founding of KRD Coatings GmbH Transparent plastic is turned into innovative high-tech glazing with high-quality coatings, special properties such as scratch and abrasion resistance as well as UV protection.

KRD is the only provider for 3x7m coated panels throughout Germany and delivers 4,750 cuts = 25,000 sqm KASIGLAS^® for the roof of the Olympic stadium in Athens. Noise protection walls with self-cleaning coating are delivered to Japan.

2004
Another milestone for KRD is laid. The first composite safety window is delivered to the police.

Composite is better than mono, various panel forms and strengths are possible.

2006
KRD offers tension free forming in production-line quality. The cooperation with John Deere begins.

Revision of antistatic products with improved product properties.

2008
Inauguration of the site in Bardowick on 11,500 square metres of newest technology and manufacturing techniques. With Founding of KRD Engineering & Service GmbH services and additional products come into the company portfolio.

KRD has the largest fully automatic coating system in Germany.

2014
2015: Safety Roof hatches are constantly evolved.

KRD has largest fully automatic coating system in Germany.

2015: KRD paves the way for the approval of plastic windscreens in road traffic. 2017 the worlds first admission according to ECE R43 takes place .

2015
With the founding of KRD Luftfahrttechnik GmbH the concentrated know-how is combined with the materials for intelligent lightweight construction. KRD develops an innovative Manufacturing process for 3D forming of polycarbonate.

KRD is awarded the Airbus Innovation Award.

Civil aviation: Individually designed partitions, lamp and camera covers.

The production of complex cockpit screens from PMMA for helicopters is a new specialty of KRD.

2017
Expansion of the Geesthacht site as an innovation center for research & development, design & engineering.

Additional functions in composite panes such as the Smart Heating System are being further developed.

2019
Since January 2021, KASIGLAS^® has been an official partner of COREUM – a platform for innovation that is unique in Europe. An exceptional place for meetings, training courses and the exchange of ideas from the construction, handling and recycling industries.

Completion of the highly innovative production line with clean room at the Bardowick site. Safety with a clear view.

2021
The world belongs to the brave - Beate Korinna Brammer has been at the helm of the KRD company for 30 years.

Podbike Frikar^®: Development of the new 3D forming completed in 2022. With Mark Poillon the third generation is launched.
